In 1984, Trevor Goodridge had a vision. He saw an opportunity to provide exceptional electrical services to the community. With unwavering dedication, he founded our company, originally known as Goodridge Electronics. Trevor’s passion for electronics and a commitment to quality set the foundation for what we are today.
Trevor Goodridge founded the company, specialising in electronic repairs and the construction and maintenance of equipment for recording studios.
In response to the shift towards a throwaway culture and the increasing preference for budget electronics, the company diversified. During this decade we transitioned to focus on electrical installation works, adapting to the evolving needs of our clients.
With heavy hearts, we faced a profound loss when Trevor, our founder, unexpectedly passed away. His son, Stephen, courageously stepped forward to shoulder the responsibility, determined to honour and carry forward his father’s cherished legacy.
We became a limited company and changed our name to Goodridge Electrical Contractors Ltd, a testament to our commitment to growth and excellence.
In the same year, we proudly attained NICEIC approved status, highlighting our commitment to electrical safety and quality.
We earned Safe Contractor accreditation, underscoring our dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards.
We joined the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), reflecting our dedication to professional standards and industry best practice.
We employed our very first apprentice, investing in the future of the industry and nurturing young talent.
We obtained ISO 9001 certification, underscoring our commitment to quality management systems.
We moved into our first dedicated office and warehouse, marking substantial growth in our infrastructure and capabilities.
We welcomed our first office administrator, strengthening the support behind our engineers out on site.
We were awarded ISO 14001 certification, showcasing our dedication to environmental management and sustainability.
We took on our first Mechanical Engineer, expanding our service offerings to include small mechanical works and a broader range of solutions for our clients.
We gained membership of the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), further establishing our presence in the security sector.
Amy, our first apprentice, received the prestigious JTL National Apprentice of the Year award, a testament to the exceptional individuals who are part of our team.
We took on our first Project Manager to run our jobs, bringing dedicated leadership to the delivery of our projects.
We appointed our first Estimating Manager to help manage the growing number of jobs we are asked to price.
We took on our Fire, Security and Data Manager as we pushed further into those areas, strengthening our specialist offering.
We appointed our first Electrical Manager to run the electrical department.
James, another of our apprentices, won the regional JTL Apprentice of the Year award and went on to reach the national finals, also making the top ten in the NET Apprentice of the Year.
